Helping the City Council

Festus wants to help the City Council as much as he can, so he tries to clean up that nasty branch. It's obvious it can fall off the tree anytime and he just wants to give it a push when we walk by it. He was happy a man stopped his car once and told him he does a good job.

That's it for now. Tomorrow it's a new day and he can try to bring down the branch again.

New friend

This weekend we went to play in Phythian park and there Festus made a new friend, a lovely girl with a good nature and well behaved. She is a sweetie.

They played for a little while, but his new friend, after the regular bow-play, wanted to chase each other. Festus doesn't like to run, so he "told" her to stop this nonsense. He really doesn't get the point of running after another dog. Sure, the situation it's different when a balloon or a ball are involved... but this was not the case.

Before getting bored, he came up with the idea to start smelling around searching for something interesting. She followed him immediately.

And he had a point. They found a very yummy bagel. He was a real gentleman and let her have the "prey".

We wanted to go... so they started playing again, this time the way Festus likes to play, no running, just staying in the same place and jumping on each other, making some bow-plays.

I hope we will meet her again.

disclaimer: I'm sorry some of the photos are blurred, I was the one in charge of the photos. Next time I'll let hubby.

Commands

Yesterday I was thinking how many commands he knows, so I made a list:
- "sezi" means sit
- "culcat" means down
- "nu" means no. He doesn't pick up something or doesn't start an activity.
- "gata" means stop. He will stop the current activity. I use this command very often when we cuddle or play and I want to stop (from his point of view we can cuddle for hours, but I have work to do)
- "aici" means here
- "roll over"
- "high5". He does this with both paws, depending on what hand I show him.
- "salut" means give paw. He does this with both paws, depending on what hand I show him.
- "stai" means wait. I use this command when I stay near him.
- "asteapta" means wait. I use this command when I leave him alone.
- "iesi" means out. He gets out of the room. I can use this command when we are outside and I want him to go in. It's funny, but this is his command.
- "pleaca" means go. He will move away from something in the same room or give me more space.
- "la loc" means at your place. He will go to his place, a blanket or a bed. When he slept in the bed I had a blanket on the bed and that was his place. It's funny he thinks something on the floor (blanket or carpet) is "his place" and we went to my mother for a few days he staid only on carpets (on the hallway, living room, bedroom).
- "lasa" means drop it. He can drop a toy or leave a branch.
- "trage" means pull. He pulls a branch or a toy, usually growling. He tends to be very vocal when he plays.
- "bravo" means good-boy
- "la picior" means heel
- "schimb" means change. When we walk and I turn at 180 degrees he will go around me and be on the same side.
- "cauta" means search. He will search something to play in the park or a hidden treat at home.
- "atinge" means touch. He will touch a target with his nose.
- "arata" means touch. He will touch a target with his paw.
- "sus" means jump. He will jump in the car or on something high, for example a rock.
- "prinde" means catch. He catches treats.

He also knows some sign commands, without any vocalization:
- to get thru my legs. I use to "dance" with him.

I'll update this post if I forgot something.

Me and Dad

On our morning walk we went in St James' Gardens, next to the The Liverpool Cathedral (the largest in UK and the 5th largest in the world).

St James' Mount is the first public park in Liverpool. From 1767 this was a place to promenade.

I was tired after dad threw some branches and I had to retrieve them.

Some of most important people in the history of Liverpool are buried here.

You can find more pictures from today on my Facebook page.

Winter

This weekend we went on a longer walk and we discovered 2 parks near us. So, now we know 5 parks in a 10-30 min walk. We took some pictures as we enjoyed the "winter weather".

We've discovered 2 lovely "branches" and decided to stop to have some fun.

and a movie...

Bone

Yesterday Festus received bones from "Uncle" Jeff.

He is very careful to clean after himself. Or this is what we want to believe.
